Scope and Content

The Buildings-Landscapes-Cultures Digital Library includes research materials gathered and compiled by the participants of the BLC program at the UW Milwaukee and Madison campuses. BLC research started in 2012, and items highlight a range of architectural case studies, as well as  information about the community and individuals. The specific objective of the BLC project is to 1) encourage community based learning and collaboration, 2) collect local histories of places of cultural relevance 3) gain skills that allow professionals to collect and analyze data 4) use the power of digital humanities to disseminate research data and 5) empower local communities by hearing/responding to those voices that are often not heard in urban and official discourses.

The collection includes monographs and data, images, maps, audio and video recordings of oral histories, and building analysis including historical research and measured drawings. Items submitted for inclusion in the DL are born digital and in the following file formats: TIFF, PDF, CAD, WAV, JPG and Word.  Individual file sizes varied over a range, eg.
