History of Ethnic Dishes Header

About this collection

Even a few decades ago the cultural heritage of the Midwest was mostly limited to Europe. Today, however, throughout Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, you can find evidence of culinary traditions and treasures from around the world. The History of Ethnic Dishes in the Midwest is designed to bring these traditions, recipes, techniques, and culinary ceremonies--both traditional and new--to anyone with interest in food, culture, culinary history, or cooking. This online collection allows easy access to more than 100 digital items covering a wide breadth of ethnic dishes brought by generations of immigrants to the American Midwest.
