About this collection

The Bukem Digitk Volapüka [Digital Library of Volapük] primarily houses works published in the "international language" Volapük from its first publication in 1879 until the language reform of 1931. While many volumes from this period have been digitized by both major libraries (such as the Österreichische Nationalbibliothek, which holds the world's largest interlinguistics collection) and hobbyists, the varied resources have never been brought together in one place. What is more, the vast majority of these resources are works about Volapük—dictionaries, grammars, textbooks, and promotional materials. It has hitherto been difficult for the student to readily find work in Volapük that might command her or his interest to read—stories, poems, travelogues, philosophical works, etc. To the extent that the BDV must prioritize its efforts due to the sheer scale of the work, it focuses first and foremost on making resources of this nature discoverable.

We hope you enjoy the collection. Reidös gudiko!
