About this collection

The Early Science Fiction Film collection includes selections of science fiction film and related media including screenplays and film posters from 1900 to 1930.  Notable items include those relating to the work of George Méliès who pioneered trick cinematography and in doing so produced what is considered the first science fiction film.  Another science fiction first featured in the collection includes the first Russian science fiction film Aelita (1925).  Film posters from Denmark, France, Germany, and Russia also make up a large part of the collection. The collection was developed for an assignment so unfortunately will not continue to develop.
