How many people have recipes they cook from memory, or that have traded hands so many times no one knows where the recipe came from? There are many, many recipes like that in my family. These recipes are used over and over, passed on from one generation to the next and only sometimes written down. Before that knowledge is lost in this global age, someone needs to make a record of it. Everyone thinks about military history or a grandparent's memories of the Great Depression, but the kitchen is the heart of the home and many important events happen there every day.
This collection is a record of the Graber family's favorite recipes from daily meals to special holiday gatherings. Personally, Family Cooking is the beginning of a plan to create a 'family favorites' cookbook that is much talked about but never begun. The recipes in this collection are not meant to be fancy, crazy dishes your family is afraid to try - these recipes are everyday cooking that anybody can fall in love with and beg for more, and you will be fixing again and again. The digital library itself is very straigtforward because much of the intended audience is made up of the members of my family - many of whom are aging and less than technologically savvy. These family members also need access to the digital library, because these recipes also come from their lives, and they need a very simple, intuitive interface to get the full experience, so they can too can remember the events that occurred over these dishes.
