Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purr-pose of this collection?
This collection is intended to collect and display the wide array of cultural productions featuring cats and kittens. While the internet has fueled recent interest in cats (as can be seen in popular cat-based memes such as Grumpy Cat and Keyboard Cat), this collection aims to demonstrate that human interest in cats and kittens has existed nearly as long as our relationship with them has. Thus, this collection includes cat-related cultural productions from places around the world and throughout time.

What types of items are in this collection?
The majority of items in this collection are images, including photographs (color and black and white), lithographs, sketches/drawings and images of cat-related objects. Additionally, the collection features audio and video clips of cats.
